Joseph passed away whilst out on a pre-season cross country run with his football Club on 5th July 2011. Paul and Dominic’s 53.5 mile South Downs Way Ultramarathon aka Race to the King

Dominic and I decided a while ago that we needed a real endurance challenge. Inspired by friends who have run similar events we decided to challenge ourselves with an Ultramarathon. Franklen’s Ride in Memory of Daniel Hughes

Franklen was accompanied on the ride by his father (Martin Howell) and Dan’s best friend, Nathan Shaw (Martin’s cousin). They where sent on their way by the Town Crier from Leek (Bill Lomas). Half way around Franklen fell off and cut his knee, but after being patched up with Star Wars plasters he bravely carried on.
