Jonny Cooper’s Leeds Half Marathon in memory of Tom and Alex Reid

Jonny Cooper raised £835 in his fifth half marathon for CRY, held on Sunday 8th May 2022. Jonny completed the challenge in an amazing 1 hour 49 minutes! He ran in memory of Tom Reid who passed away suddenly on 28th September 2009 and more specifically with Tom’s brother Alex Reid in mind who passed away


Reid Family Honours their Son’s Memory with TomFest 2019

Yorkshire Evening Post, 18th September 2019 Tom Reid passed away at just 19 years old in September of 2009 after he collapsed due to an undiagnosed heart condition while attending a Freshers event on his first day of university. Tomfest 2019

Tomfest 2019 – Saturday 7th September 2019 Tomfest 2019 was an afternoon and evening of live music, crafts and entertainment and remembrance of Tom Reid who died in September 2009.  The day’s activities began at The Lord Gascoigne Pub in Garforth with live music from: Tom Clayton Dave and Lindsey King Chapel Jazz Collective Luke Flear

Yorkshire Women of Achievement

The Yorkshire Women of Achievement event took place at the Royal Armouries on Friday. Unfortunately I did not win my category (Courage) but the incredible woman that did win definitely deserved the award and also overall recognition as she won the overall Outstanding Woman of Achievement award too.  Her story was extremely sad and tragic, but


Screening in memory of Tom Reid

Ministry of Justice London and Midlands Teams Charity Fundraising Day

On Friday 4th March 2011, MoJ Shared Services in Leeds ran a charity fundraising day to raise money for CRY. This charity means a lot to one member of the team – Jordan Priestley – who lost his good friend Tom Reid to young sudden cardiac death. The main event on the day was an awards


Screening at the Garforth Academy on the 26th July 2014

On Saturday 26th July 2014 the Tom Reid Memorial fund held a CRY screening day at Garforth Academy. The screening was a great success with 94 young people aged 14 – 35 screened. During the screening the MP for Garforth attended to show his support for the day.

SADS awareness campaign in memory of Tom Reid

25th March 2010 Leeds Metropolitan University PR students Elizabeth Taylor, Adam Burns and Becky Knowles held a SADS awareness raising campaign at the city centre campus and manned a CRY information stand, after reading about the death of 19 year old Leeds student, Tom Reid. The students handed out CRY leaflets and spoke with other students

Raising Awareness Week 2010 – Halina and Antony Reid

Halina and Antony Reid embarked upon a week of awareness raising events as part of CRY’s annual Raising Awareness Week. The Reids lost their son Tom suddenly in September 2009, aged just 19. Friday 8th October Halina was interviewed at home by Suzanne McTaggart, reporter from the Yorkshire Evening Post. Suzanne is writing a health article
