Virtual Challenges

Shave your hair / beard off

A great way to fundraise, set an amount you wish to raise or a date for the big chop and encourage others to donate, you could broadcast the shave via social media so everyone can watch live.

This is a great time to be doing a challenge like this as the barbers are currently closed!

Stair challenge

If you have stairs at home, climbing the equivalent height of a global known landmark (Nelsons column: 52m high (66 steps), Angel of the north : 54m wide (70 steps), Blackpool tower: 158m  (200 steps), The Shard: 310m  (400 steps)). Make a donation to CRY related to your efforts!

Skills based challenge

Challenge others to see who is the best at certain skill based challenges! A few examples are: juggle the longest, spin a ball on their finger the longest, do 20 keepy uppies. You could us our text donate feature to donate to CRY and to nominate the next person/persons you wish to challenge!

Walk, Run or Cycle the distance of one of the cancelled 2020 fundraising events

As so many events have had to be postponed or cancelled, why not independently complete the event yourself? If you were due to take part in a half marathon, marathon, or long-distance cycle, you can walk, run or cycle the same distance in your local area!

Simply use an app to track the distance you intend to do. This will allow you to plan your route or to go a distance for a specific amount of time (e.g. – how long it would take you to complete your intended event).

Promote your fundraising with a selfie

Fundraisers with pictures on their online fundraising page raise 14% more per photo!

Posting a selfie while you are out training, or perhaps half-way through a head shaving challenge and sharing the selfie on social media, WhatsApp and email can help boost donations!

Regularly update your fundraising page

Let supporters know how you are doing by updating your online fundraising page often; they will enjoy following your progress and are more likely to donate following an update.

Encourage others to join you!

Why not see if any friends or family would also like to take on your challenge and help raise even more funds!
You could even set up a zoom video call while you are training / participating in the challenge and do it together!
Additional support is powerful and the more people involved, the wider the message will spread.

Send a personalised note to your friends and family, kindly asking them to share your page on their social media accounts too!

Asking your friends and family to share your page on social media can help encourage other to support you! You can also ask people to share your online fundraising page if they can not donate, helping to raise awareness is also a great way to support CRY.
