Derbyshire and Sheffield screenings in memory of Neil Ward

187 young people were screened over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of August 2019 at a pair of screenings at Swanwick School and Sports College in Swanwick, Derbyshire and at Abbeydale Sports Club in Sheffield. The screenings were held in memory of Neil Ward.

176 local young people were screened at a pair of screening days in Derbyshire on the 13th and 14th of July 2019. The screenings were held at Gosforth Playing Fields in Dronfield Woodhouse and Cavendish Hall in Edensor, Bakewell, and were in memory of Neil Ward.

Burns Night Supper supports CRY

Sewing Group supports CRY

Moss Valley Medical Practice's Patient Participation Group

Through her involvement with NDVA, Elaine was invited to an evening entitled “Help for Your Heart” at Moss Valley Medical Practice organised by the Patient Participation Group.  Much interest was shown after Elaine’s short talk.


Dronfield Floral Art Group

At a floral art demonstration in Dronfield on 6th November 2014 Elaine was given over £200 – the proceeds of the raffle. In her thank you talk she gave a short explanation about the work of CRY and many useful contacts were made.


WI soup and Sweet Lunch

On 19th November 2014 over seventy members of The Rutland Group of WI’s attended a soup and sweet lunch organised by Dronfield WI.  As  Dronfield WI’s Charity of the Year Elaine received the proceeds of the raffle which amounted to over £200.  Trustees of The Derbyshire Federation also made a generous donation of £100. CRY Christmas Tree at the Freemasons Tapton Hall Sheffield

Every Christmas nearly thirty charities each decorate a Christmas tree in Tapton Masonic Hall in Sheffield. Over the Christmas and New Year period it is estimated that over 4000 visitors see the trees.  The tree for CRY was decorated with hearts made by Elaine’s friends from various Dronfield ladies’ groups. Miners' Arms Charity

Music in Sheffield's Botanical Gardens July 2014

First Screening in Dronfield 12th July 2014

On 12th July 2014 the first screening in Dronfield took place at Gosforth Fields Playing Fields Association premises. A team of seven came from CRY and 100 young people were screened during the day.  Our local MP Natascha Engel also came to offer her support as well as the local Freemasons.  A team of ladies –

Freemasons support CRY

The Freemasons Provincial Grand Charity of the Province of Derbyshire presented £250 to Elaine following a donation of the same amount by the Freemasons Dronfield Lodge at the end of 2013.  


Coffee Morning in memory of Neil Ward

A coffee morning was held at the home of Elaine Ward on 29th November 2013 to raise funds for the heart screening in Dronfield in July 2014.  £414 was raised thanks to friends who together with Elaine made and sold craft items, cakes, jams and chutneys, cards and Christmas Trees made out of Celebration Chocolates which


Rotary Supports CRY

In September 2013 The Rotary Club of Dronfield donated £250 to CRY as well as to other local charities. The money was raised by Dronfield Rotarians who had taken part in the summer 2013 Music in the Gardens event in Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens.

The Great Cake Bake Coffee Morning in memory of Neil Ward

In November 2014 during Elaine’s presidency of Dronfield Inner Wheel, she held her first coffee morning to raise funds for screening in Dronfield.  It was in conjunction with CRY’s Great Cake Bake held at the end of Raising Awareness Week. Over 40 people attended.  It was a very special day.


Quilt Raffle in memory of Neil Ward

Some members of Dronfield Inner Wheel including Elaine made a patchwork quilt which was raffled for CRY.  This raised £1000.
